| Caroline Webb studied typography at the University of Reading and since 1984 has been working as a lettering designer and letter-carver. Caroline eschews 'experimental' lettering preferring to explore and develop traditional letterforms in designs that respect content. She works almost entirely to commission carving inscriptions in wood and stone. Apart from a spell working with a lettercarver in the USA she has always worked alone. Caroline has designed medals for The Royal Mint and has collaborated for many years with the poet Ian Hamilton Finlay, contributing to major exhibitions and installations. She is a Brother of The Art Workers Guild. Currently she is juggling the demands of her workshop with those of her young family.
