| Ben Jones is a letter carver and sundial maker. He studied lettering at the City and Guilds of London Art School from 1981 to 1984. On leaving art school he worked briefly for Alec Peever, Annet Stirling and Ralph Beyer, then as a carver and stone mason involved with the restoration of Exeter Cathedral and many other buildings. Since 1991 he has worked full time as a letter carver and dial maker. His work includes memorials, plaques, architectural lettering and sundials using stone, slate, granite, brick and wood usually with hand carved lettering though some projects have involved sand blasting with hand cut stencils. |
