Lin Kerr is a South African lettering artist living in London and she produces letter-based artworks, currently working with a sacred geometry series. This began with some large Pythagoras pieces using paper, gold, thin layers of tissue, gouache, water-colours etc; exploring the theorem visually. The exploration has now moved to spirals and labyrinths. The Pythagoras piece is part of the Fitzwilliam Contemporary Calligraphy Collection in Cambridge.
Some of her designs have been carved for a Stone Route project in Belgium. "Aan Geluk" was carved by Wim Dufourmont and "N'kosi Sikele" was carved by Christophe Annys. The African Inspiration can also be seen in one of a trio of metal sculptures . "Uxolo" which means "Peace" in Xhosa.
In her spare time she designs and produces wedding stationery and undertakes calligraphic commissions.
She has a degree in Fine Arts and is also a qualified Art Teacher who gives workshops and talks on art-lettering related topics.
