Margaret Morgan is a calligrapher and lettering artist. She was lured into calligraphy by learning italic handwriting at school at an early age. Her training in graphics and typography are a strong influence on her work with pen, brush and drawn lettering.
She works with designers and ad agencies on commercial projects, providing original hand-lettering for commercial projects; produces pieces for exhibition and sale, as well as public and private commissions.
Author of four books on calligraphy and illumination, contemporary ways of using gold and letterforms are a continuing fascination. Margaret also leads workshops in the UK and abroad, and established an annual summer school in Derbyshire in 2006, to encourage students towards a more experimental approach to lettering.
